6/6/1922 City Council minutes:
"A protest signed by L. C. Martin and other property owners in the vicinity against the reclassification was read. Mrs. L. C. Martin personally protested against the reclassification on the ground that an oil service station will be & detriment to adjoining property. Mrs. Martin further objected to the condition and lack of care given the houses on Berkeley way belonging to Mr. Stevens, and to his renting these houses to Japanese."
